Monday Morning: All's Right

Monday started off peaceful and pensive as Penny and I went for a trail run bright and early this morning. We talked about heaven in small group last night and that was still on my mind as we watched the sun move through the trees and sparkle on the lakes. Penny has taught me to stop and really notice nature- to chase bugs, chew the grass, sniff some dog poop; to stop and explore all the little pieces that come together to make this planet work. Watching her sniff around and enjoy some freedom to run as fast and far as she can, allowed me to give myself that same freedom, and I felt that connection, that brief glimpse of a reflection of what will be and for a second,  a very brief second, I felt that all was right with the world; that God is in His heaven and all is right. And it was good. A really good morning.

Happy Friday, Y'all!!!!

It's here! Put your face in some cake! I'm helping throw a shower for a friend, house hunting, and hopefully dipping my toes in the pool for a bit. How about you- what's on the books for the weekend?

Five Favorites for Fall

It feels like fall in August? In Memphis? You bet it does and all God's people said...a-freaken-men! Here are my top five looks I'm looking to emulate this fall. Some must haves: camel coat, black skinny pants, leopard piece, white blazer, and some very yummy couture pajamas. Come on, fall. Keep coming!

Monday Morning (ish): Empty House

We officially vacated our home last week. The house is sold and all is moved and our. stuff. is. every. where. We had found an awesome place with great studio space, but that fell through last month, so the search for a new abode continues! We're in temporary housing/ studio space and are learning that home is truly where the heart is, not where all our things are parked, although it sure is nice to have that parking place!  I can't wait to show pictures once we finally relocate and get settled. Until then, onward! Farewell sweet house, and hello to the new one- wherever you are!

Friday Inspiration

This week has been loooooooong, and I know I'm not the only one! I keep staring at this quote for some energy. Whatever you have on your plate, forget about it this weekend and then stare it down Monday morning. Try and stop us next week. Just try. :)

Monday Mornings: Hot Artist Studio Spaces

Love this gorgeous home studio full of light and neutral wall and floor coverings.
With the house sold, our move well on the way, and the new house hunt in full swing, studio space has been well on my mind. We're looking for a place abundant with light and transformable into a spacious area for artwork. These are a few of my favorite artitst's spaces that I'd love to emulate:

This space is intoxicatingly beautiful. The paint cart is enviable.

Loving this architect's space for inspiration. It's a little dark, but love the modern wood paneling and huge table space. The partitions are killer awesome for displaying huge pieces gallery style.

This studio space belongs to one of my all-time favorite modern artists, Michele Armas. She was kind enough to let me peek in a while back and chat for a while when I was in Atlanta. It's so spacious, so clean and neat and fresh- so unlike what one would attribute to an artist's space. I could sit here all day and soak up her beautiful paintings!

Gerhard Richter paints here. This is only one room of his vast studio space- the man has something like a warehouse that he works out of and is able to dedicate entire rooms for planning paintings to scale to fit with museum and gallery space. If you haven't seen the documentary about his workflow on Netflix, check it out. It's titled "Gerhard Richter Painting." His work ethic and flow is inspiring.  Maybe David and I just need to move into a warehouse...

And finally, the man himself, William De Kooning in his studio!!!!!! This might be my absolute favorite space. The vast height of the ceiling, the wall of windows. Yes, I need to work in this space forever.
