Monday Morning Indugence: A Breakfast of Fruits & Vegetables

David and I have turned a corner for breakfast, and it's a very healthy corner at that. We've started treating ourselves to foods that do a body good first thing in the morning. Our latest challenge has been to see how many vegetables we can fit into breakfast and the results have been stunning! The current favorite has been frittata stuffed with zucchini, spinach, tomatoes, and squash paired with Greek yogurt, honey, and berries. If breakfast makes it to the patio, it's a good day indeed.  We watch the bikers fly by on the Greenline and soak up the early morning sun.  Happy indulging this Monday morning!

Inside & Out

Ever want to indulge the inner voyeur and peek inside an intriguing house? Boy, I sure do!  I thought I'd wrap up today with some paired interiors and exteriors that I thought look like they cozy up together. My number one house that I'd like to inhabit from these picks has to be the pink house with the cropped foliage and my imagined interiors of watercolor washed walls and a kelly green sleigh bed. It reminds me of the house I'd love to have in Tuscany....mmmm Tuscany... Happy weekend to you!

Summer Peach Pickin'

It was hot. Blazing hot when David and I went peach picking last week, so we came up with our own drive by fruiting concept. What would be more perfect than a drive through orchard where you wouldn't have to leave your car ? Each summer we religiously make a pilgrimage to Jones Orchard in Millington, TN to pick bushels of peaches that I freeze and feast on the rest of the year. This specific trip was for peach lavender ice cream that my sister and I made for our Harry Potter watch party. The recipe came from Tartlette, one of my favorite foodie blogs. I didn't get a picture of our ice cream, but I did roast some peaches with lavender and honey and served them over fresh whipped cream for an afternoon treat. Hooooooly crap. I'm in love!!  PLEASE tell me you're a peach lover- any good peach treats I need to add to my repertoire?

50 Shades of...Blue (A Color Crush)

Today's post is brought to you by the color...blue! It's one of my subconscious go-to's for a painting and I'm exploring new shades every day. It's amazing how many hues are lurking around waiting to be found in what may seem to be a solid color.  Variations of color are found in shadows, highlights, & reflections. As an artist, I'm constantly on the lookout for hidden hues- colors that make a composition pop. Enjoy these 50 shades !

Monday Morning Indulgence: Milk n Cookies

David and I have been taking full advantage of summer and all the fun times that come along with it. I've been pulling some shorter summer hours, taking in more Memphis sites, taking long morning coffees, and of course, eating more cookies. I took this shot the morning after a Monopoly-off that David and I played the night before while I was enjoying my morning Oreos and milk. It reminded me of many a summers as a kid where we would wear the mess out of some board games on rainy days. Ahhh. Summer time. You are so lovely!

VW Lovin'

I really, really want a VW van to haul around art. I mean really want one. I see them around town occasionally and get the envies. One day I will have one. Some day.  But until then I might just have to settle for a less sturdy option. I recently discovered this insanely amazing to scale VW tent . People would line up by the masses to ask us to go camping with them just so they could witness this tent, right? VW van. VW tent. Whatever it takes. Ima hafta gemme one.

Color Crush: Elroy Ink Prints

Elroy Ink prints are my color inspiration of the moment. I'm really diggin' that chartreusey green strip down the middle next to that hot pink. De-lish!

This was a recent custom piece for a friend's anniversary present. She really liked the "Serenity Now" painting (Available on Etsy) and wanted something similar for her dining room. This is what we came up with and it looks splendid on her walls! Happy Anniversary, Holly & Jason!

Monday Morning Indulgence: Spritzers to Beat the Heat

Hoooooooly Crap, it's hot. Stupid hot. My thoughts are constantly drifting to ways to beat this nasty weather and they usually end in something refreshing to drink. I've been pinning lotsa tasty beverages  for summer and I'd like to share some of my top favorites with you. I'm drawn to beverages with unlikely combinations and I'm a sure sucker for anything titled "herb infused." I've been trying to stay hydrated, so I've been skipping the booze and adding extra fizz with my club soda and diet tonic water which makes the perfect afternoon pick me up.  Grab you some club soda and make a fizzy concoction for the perfect Monday treat!!
